Discover the transformative journey of a modern-day Qigong Master.
"I have known Jim for thirty years, and I nominated him as the first Spring Forest Qigong Master. He walked through a tough life but never gave up his dedication to helping others and searching for his higher self—and he found it. I strongly believe his stories will encourage so many people to rise up when difficulty comes and stay with the truth of life, master it, and enjoy it."
-Master Chunyi Lin, Founder of Spring Forest Qigong

As the ‘67 Mustang sped down the early frost highway in Pennsylvania, Jim Nance, in his first year of college, heard a voice. It sounded as if someone was speaking directly into his ear—clear and calm—it said, "Put your head down. Everything will be ok." Without hesitation, Jim followed the advice.
In a flash, a patch of ice sent the car spinning—a black pinwheel rolling along the gleaming road while steep valleys flanked by jagged cliffs loomed on each side. After launching through the passenger window and landing twenty feet away, Jim stood in the middle of the highway and brushed broken glass from his clothes as a semi-truck flew past, missing him by inches. He walked away with only a scratch on his thumb.
What was this voice which guided him before the crash? What was this intelligence which seemed to know what was about to happen? From this moment on, Jim was determined to find answers.
This book follows the life of an African American man, from early years in the Midwest, to the streets of Philadelphia, through strange and magical stories of travels in Africa. Amidst a constant pursuit, stories of incredible healers, incredulous events, and other-worldly beings keep readers engaged as Jim moves toward discovering Qigong.
Throughout his life, Jim found his way was lit by a mysterious guiding force—one which knew all that was to be. After overcoming physical, and intellectual challenges early in life; Jim went on to become a professional basketball player in Turkey and an educator in public schools; and finally, after a 27-year search, Jim met Chunyi Lin, a Master from China.
Studying and practicing the ancient healing science of Qigong under the guidance of Master Lin, Jim learned techniques to help his body to heal from serious injuries. Gaining knowledge over time and refining his skills, he learned more about the flow of intelligent energy in the body (qi) and how to help others to heal. He became the first Spring Forest Qigong Master.
Following his experience, after more than 25 years of Qigong healing and teaching, this book reflects on the extraordinary life of Master Jim Nance and his unique perspective of Qigong and healing. It illuminates a constant truth—that everyone, if given the chance to look upon their own life story, will find that help, guidance, and care have been present all along, often appearing in the most creative and mysterious of ways.
